RICHARD F. ROTH, a shareholder, attended the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in economics. He graduated from the University of Michigan Law School with a Juris Doctor degree, cum laude, in 1972.

Richard specializes in business, estate planning, and real estate with an emphasis on acquisitions, financing, taxation, and estate planning for professionals and wealthy individuals. He also has extensive experience creating and working with foundations and charitable organizations.

Richard has handled the acquisition, sale, and financing of apartment complexes, shopping centers, and office buildings. He has also managed workouts for distressed properties. His most recent article “Protect More of your Assets from the Estate Tax” appeared in Medical Economics® and Laches, the monthly publication of the Oakland County Bar Association. He co-authored the Michigan statute which exempts from sales tax the purchase of hi-tech computers used in computer-integrated manufacturing and CAD-CAM.

A frequent lecturer at professional seminars, Richard also serves on the Board of Directors for Hebrew Free Loan and as an advisor to the Beatrice and Reymont Paul Foundation. He has served on the Board of Directors for the Empowerment Plan, on the Advisory Board of Project Chessed, as president of the Michigan Jewish Sports Foundation and the Sinai Health Care Foundation. He also served on the board of trustees for Karmanos Cancer Institute, The Jewish Fund, Sinai Hospital, Huron Valley-Sinai Hospital, the Anti-Defamation League, Temple Beth Jacob, and Knollwood Country Club.

Since 2013, Richard has been continually selected by his peers for inclusion in the annual edition of Best Lawyers in America® in the areas of real estate law and trusts and estates. He has been recognized as a top lawyer by DBusiness Magazine, as a Michigan Leading Lawyer and has been named in Michigan Super Lawyers® since 2007. Richard is AV Preeminent® rated by Martindale Hubbel, a peer review that demonstrates a lawyer has earned the highest rating available for legal ability and professional ethics.
